Leasing a car has been a practice of many American families. It has become an economical option especially in these trying times when finances isn’t as fluid as it was before the global economic meltdown that hit the United States back in December last year. The effect of the crisis lingers.

But while many other businesses may have been adversely affected by the crisis, car leasing business seemed on an opposite direction — not down but up.

Pushing Sales Up via the Media

In fact, more and more car leasing investment firms have been resorting to advertisements if only to guarantee that they stand out and get a bigger chunk of the American market. They also get to offer promotional packages, which appear easy on the pocket.

In trying to spot leasing a car pros and cons, it is imperative that we get into details of what we are about to engage with.

There are those promotional advertisements which makes good of its offer, while there are those which turns out to be a dud — and no more just a marketing gimmick to get the people to notice them and eventually fall into their bracket.

Irresistible Promotional Packages

BMW 328i for one has been a subject of many criticisms for clauses that tend to “automatically adjust” car lease rates. Leasing car price for the BMW varies, depending on the client’s use. Factors which may affect the rate include mileage or the distance of which the cars travels.

BMW, which is known for its expensively stylish sedans, makes their promotion look real good and irresistible at that. A person or an entity in search for a good catch in their search for a viable car lease agreement could not possibly resist a $399 a month leasing rate. There are other financing arms of other car manufacturing entities into this “promotional gimmick”. There are some glitches in the agreement though.

Going into Contract Details

The agreement details require a 36-month contract, which means you won’t be able to just return it. Otherwise, you’d be fined. A client is also required to make initial cash-outs which include the down payment and security deposit. The combined amount is already close to a down payment in purchasing other branded cars.

The agreement also stipulates limited distance. The mileage limit is normally “10,000 miles or more”. The promotional advertisement fails to declare that the words “or more” translates to additional payments too. In fact, from $399 monthly rental fees may go as much as $532 a month as the average distance that an American motorist traverse is pegged at 15,000 miles per year.

There are other glitches in the contract which requires clients to turn to leasing-a-car tips, which they could find in many informative sites in the web. The best tip however is to be cautious with the stipulations of the car lease contract before you sign them. It is also advisable to be inquisitive.
