The revolution of the modern day drag racing circuit has got to be credited to Universal’s Fast and the Furious series of films. Although it is true that street racing in the US was already quite popular before the movies were launched, there is no doubt that they helped bring this sport to the mainstream. Because of the insurmountable success attained by this set of movies, a lot of people became interested in the turbocharged customized cars that were featured in these films. For the enthusiasts out there, here is a quick rundown of some of the more popular fast and furious cars.

For starters, it was Dom’s Mazda RX7 that stole the show in the first picture, the Fast and the Furious. It was Veilside, one of the biggest automotive aftermarket manufacturers in Japan, that constructed the RX7 which came complete with the wide-body kit, the huge Rotora brakes, the large intercooler under the bumper, the HKS T04z conversion kit, coil-over shocks, and the massive 19-inch Evo-V wheels. There is no doubt that this was one of the most awesome fast and furious cars used.

For the second picture, 2Fast 2Furious, one of the most attention-grabbing custom car was the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder. It was driven by Roman Pierce, a character played by R&B singer Tyrese. The purple-colored Eclipse Spyder was equipped with the latest in racing technology. Rumor has it that the exhaust used on the actual car shot in the movie was swapped with that from a Subaru WRX. In terms of paint job, this car definitely had the most elaborate one throughout the entire series. And of course, who could forget its “H8TER” license plate?

Last on this brief Fast and Furious cars list is the Sunset Orange-painted Mazda that made its mark in the Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift. What a few viewers might not know is that this car was actually also the Mazda RX8 – similar to Dominic’s car in the first picture. It was also built by Vielside and is one of the few cars that made an appearance in more than just one Fast and Furious movie.
