First of all, directly purchasing a car from its previous user will almost always automatically mean a cheaper rate. Why? This is because without the middle man involved, there is no one who’s going to be asking for his cut on the deal. When a dealership purchases a vehicle from an owner, they’re selling price will be a little bit more than how much they actually purchased it. This is just logical because by not doing so, they would go out of business. However, by going directly to the source, the likelihood of getting the best deal available increases exponentially. The bottom line is that used cars for sale by owner will be cheaper nine times out of ten.

The next reason involves the actual quality of the purchase. That is, it would be easier to take the word of the car’s previous owner than that of a salesman whose primary objective is just to make the sale. By dealing directly with the car’s owner, the buyer will be able to get a more objective and honest “sales pitch.” That is of course, if the seller isn’t a two-faced liar. But then again, this is where one’s instincts will have to play a role. After all, it’s much easier to spot an ordinary fraud from one who actually does it for a living. However, this isn’t saying that all second hand sales people are con artists; in fact, there are a lot out there that will give buyers an excellent deal. It just so happens that there are quite a few bad apples in the bunch.

For the reasons stated above, it is obvious that it is more advantageous for the buyer to opt for cheap cars for sale by owner rather than those sold in second hand car dealerships.
