The Batmobile is an awesome vehicle in the movies, so it should come as no surprise that some creative souls try to convert their cars into personal Batmobiles.

Bad idea. Things go really wrong almost every time and the creative souls usually end up filling their driveway with something that embarrasses both themselves, their families and the street they live on.

Here is a collection of disturbing, fan made Batmobiles. First some versions of the classic Batmobile from the 1960s:

Some failed attempts at converting an everyday car into the Batmobile:

So far I have only seen one fan made Batmobile that looked nice. That is the modified Corvette from my original post about the Batmobile.

I’ll finish this post with a picture of a different type of fan made Batman vehicle: The pedal powered Batboat

The Batmobile has been an awesome vehicle since the beginning of Batman’s career. He started in the sixties with a modified Lincoln Futura, which looked more or less like a futuristic sedan.

For the first Batman movies, Batman changed to a sleek, sport car like model based on a Chevrolet platform. Everything worked on this model, including the jet engine in the back.

Later, Batman changed car again. For the great movie Batman Begins he chose a more tank-like vehicle that has been described as a cross between a Lamborghini and a Hummer. The tank-like Batmobile is definately my favorite – it is so much more Batman than all his previous vehicles.

Besides the three famous Batmobiles, Batman has also driven a jet powered coupe in the animated series The Batman and a slightly ridiculous Batmobile with dragon wings.

Here and there people are also trying to build their own Batmobiles. If you base it on a Chevrolet Corvette, it can go quite well:

If you base it on your everyday sedan, it can go quite wrong:
