Leasing a car has been a practice of many American families. It has become an economical option especially in these trying times when finances isn’t as fluid as it was before the global economic meltdown that hit the United States back in December last year. The effect of the crisis lingers.

But while many other businesses may have been adversely affected by the crisis, car leasing business seemed on an opposite direction — not down but up.

Pushing Sales Up via the Media

In fact, more and more car leasing investment firms have been resorting to advertisements if only to guarantee that they stand out and get a bigger chunk of the American market. They also get to offer promotional packages, which appear easy on the pocket.

In trying to spot leasing a car pros and cons, it is imperative that we get into details of what we are about to engage with.

There are those promotional advertisements which makes good of its offer, while there are those which turns out to be a dud — and no more just a marketing gimmick to get the people to notice them and eventually fall into their bracket.

Irresistible Promotional Packages

BMW 328i for one has been a subject of many criticisms for clauses that tend to “automatically adjust” car lease rates. Leasing car price for the BMW varies, depending on the client’s use. Factors which may affect the rate include mileage or the distance of which the cars travels.

BMW, which is known for its expensively stylish sedans, makes their promotion look real good and irresistible at that. A person or an entity in search for a good catch in their search for a viable car lease agreement could not possibly resist a $399 a month leasing rate. There are other financing arms of other car manufacturing entities into this “promotional gimmick”. There are some glitches in the agreement though.

Going into Contract Details

The agreement details require a 36-month contract, which means you won’t be able to just return it. Otherwise, you’d be fined. A client is also required to make initial cash-outs which include the down payment and security deposit. The combined amount is already close to a down payment in purchasing other branded cars.

The agreement also stipulates limited distance. The mileage limit is normally “10,000 miles or more”. The promotional advertisement fails to declare that the words “or more” translates to additional payments too. In fact, from $399 monthly rental fees may go as much as $532 a month as the average distance that an American motorist traverse is pegged at 15,000 miles per year.

There are other glitches in the contract which requires clients to turn to leasing-a-car tips, which they could find in many informative sites in the web. The best tip however is to be cautious with the stipulations of the car lease contract before you sign them. It is also advisable to be inquisitive.

You usually hear people leasing the car of their dreams to be able to experience first-hand how it feels to drive around in a sports car or luxury car that they could not afford to buy. This is why there are so many car lease businesses in the market today.

Recently, they have uncovered another demand from clients – the need to establish a van lease business for client’s personal use. This is because in the past, only big companies are looking for van lease deals. Now, even families and even individuals are looking into leasing vans for personal use.

One reason is that most vans can easily seat 6 to 8 people comfortably, with enough room for everyone to stretch their limbs. Therefore, a family or group of friends who want to take long road trips would usually lease a van because it can be very uncomfortable (or even impossible) to travel in a car together. Traveling in a van is also much easier than traveling in a car if you’re bringing small children with you, because car seats or booster seats are much easier to put on in a van. There is also a lot more space for your luggage in a van.

Another reason why people lease vans is because they might be thinking of buying one, but they’re not sure if they would like driving it. Instead of buying a van that they won’t drive afterwards, they can just look for cheap van lease deals so that they can experience having a van first-hand without making any long term commitments. If they don’t like driving a van, they can easily return the leased van once the contract expires.

When leasing a van for your personal use, you get nearly all the benefits of buying a van without the long-term commitment. The monthly fixed payments are usually very affordable. In addition, if you get the maintenance package from your dealer, you won’t need to worry about engine trouble or other problems. You can even get road side assistance to ensure a safe travel for you and your family.

If you’re trying to look for great car leasing deals, you won’t have to look too far. However, you do have to learn how to look smart. Of course, you want to find a deal that would benefit you the most and would give you an opportunity to save as much money as possible on the car that you want.

Here are five tips to help you great car leasing deals.

First, always ask about the warranty clause for your lease. You should know exactly how long the warranty would be, when it will start and when it will end. You should also know exactly what the warranty will cover. If you find that the warranty does not meet your minimum requirements, look around for another deal or try to negotiate with the dealer.

Second, lease the car only for as long as the duration of the warranty. If you lease longer than the warranty, you won’t be taking advantage fully of the warranty that you are paying for.

Third, check if the dealership would require you to pay a return fee when you bring back the leased car. Some dealerships have this clause which goes unnoticed until the time that you’re actually returning the car. If this is included in the contract, try to negotiate with the dealer or look around for other dealerships.

Fourth, remember that you probably won’t need all of the plans and programs being offered to you by the lease dealer. If you’re not leasing the car for an extended period of time, you may not need to get such costly add-ons such as paint protection and tire protection. Remember that the add-ons increase the total amount that you will be paying.

Fifth, before leasing a car, look around for the dealership that gives the best offer. Tell each dealership that you are comparing them against each other. Their reaction will usually be to up the competition and give you a discount or free add-ons just to get your business.

Getting great car leasing deals can be easy if you only exert enough effort and spend a lot of time evaluating your options before you sign the contract.

Auto leases have always been regarded as the affordable and viable way to drive an expensive car even if one couldn’t actually afford to buy one, not at the moment perhaps.

The global financial meltdown slowed down the auto leasing business though. Another reason that pushed many auto-leasing ventures to a halt is the fact that the demand for it dropped at an alarming level — where the overhead cost posted higher than the generated gross revenue. These past few weeks, there have been indications that it is slowly recovering.

Automotive Industry News

In fact, news broke out about the General Motors and Chrysler going back into auto leases to their clients during the third quarter of 2009. Its financing arm, GMAC Financial Services is on top of its auto leasing operations, it was also reported.

Another car manufacturing entity, Ford Motors has announced plans of conceptualizing leasing promotions. Toyota Motors, for its part said that they are allocating funds from their one billion dollar marketing fund to cover the operation of a similar service.

More Profitable than Sales

Automotive companies and financial entities are reactivating the auto lease business which they deemed seems more profitable today than dealerships, whose sales remain sluggish. The business of selling used cars soared at a record high this year resulting from the low trading activity for dealerships.

It is the very reason why automakers decided to venture back into the auto-leasing businesses where they see revenues and still get to keep the car under its auto lease for bad credit scheme.

Automotive investment companies have also been reported to be eyeing auto lease for sale, as part of resurrecting their businesses.

Bold Predictions

Jeremy Anwyl, chief executive of the Santa Monica-based Edmunds.com made a bold prediction about the auto lease business. He said that the practice may account for 20% of auto sales in the US.

Higher resale values also allow automotive companies to peg lower rates for monthly lease agreements. Auto lease rates vary. General Motors have been reported to be offering as low as $ 673 monthly payment for their 2010 Cadillac SRX. GM’s offer likewise includes $1,000 rebate on the car with a sticker price of $42,000.

Other car companies into auto lease business have been competing against each other offering better packages, which include lower monthly rental rates and higher rebates.

A lot of people could only dream about riding or even driving a Mercedes Benz. Unfortunately, this will remain as a dream for a majority of people, especially considering the fact that the economy isn’t looking like it’s going to get any better in the immediate future. However, because of Mercedes leasing, those who are unable to afford to actually buy one are given the opportunity to own one at a much lower price, albeit only temporarily.

Mercedes Benz has made a name for itself over the decades. It has gained a reputation of being one of the most elegant vehicles in the world, while also providing comfort that is equaled by only a few. These reasons alone would be enough for one to consider leasing a Mercedes. It allows people to drive around in a high-end vehicle without worrying about getting into debt in the near future.

However, there are still a few reasons why a lot of folks take out Mercedes leasing deals. For starters, the industry has been bombarded with vehicle leasing companies left and right. Because of the competition, leasing companies have to come up with all sorts of promotions and gimmicks to attract customers. This is definitely a good thing for the consumer as this will ultimately result to lower leasing rates for them.

Another advantage of leasing a Mercedes as opposed to buying one is that users need not worry about the depreciation of their vehicle. Users even have the advantage of driving a new Mercedes model every few years should they choose to get into a new leasing contract. Nothing says style better than a brand new Mercedes Benz.

What’s great about most Mercedes leasing offers is that users are given the option to purchase the vehicle at the end of the contract. Not only will the users be buying a vehicle that they have grown accustomed with, but also, they should be able to get it at a much affordable rate. Because of the leasing contract, the sale value of the Mercedes at the end of the deal becomes much cheaper when compared to buying a second-hand Mercedes Benz from a car dealership.

For some folks, buying a brand new van or a new SUV isn’t really an option because of financial reasons. However, the need for a vehicle compels them to look at other options that may be available. One such option is van leasing. Instead of spending a whole lot of money on a new vehicle, some people opt for leasing or renting a van for an extended period of time. Below are some of the advantages of this strategy as well as some things to keep in mind for those who may be looking to take out this handy option.

One of the first things to look at is the type of contract one might get into. To be more specific, there are certain details on these contracts that need extra attention to ensure that one will be getting his money’s worth. For instance, one will need to look at the vehicle’s full description. One should have an idea of what type of van he would like and naturally, he should only consider those that fall into his pre-set category.

Equally important are the payment profiles involved in these contracts. There are a lot of van leasing companies out there and some of them will be able to provide better deals more than others. Although their rates may vary, the industry standard is usually a 3-month deposit which is good for a 2-year contract. Any contract in this region should be a good enough deal.

Lastly, folks should find out if the contract involves a buyout clause. What this does is it gives the leaser the option to buy the car or the van at the end of the contract. Most van leasing offers provide this option as it becomes advantageous for both parties involved. The company is able to sell their van at a good price while the buyer is guaranteed that he is purchasing a vehicle that he is satisfied with. This is especially true for contract that last for over two years as users are already well accustomed to the van and will definitely get a good deal for its purchase.

Nowadays, it definitely makes more economical sense to lease a car rather than actually buying one. Leasing only requires the user to pay a specific amount of money for as long as he’d like to use the vehicle, which is much cheaper than actually purchasing the vehicle. For those who may be interested, here are some personal car leasing tips that should come in handy.

To begin with, one will need to do some research regarding the type of car he’d like to lease. Although a luxury car or a sports car might be flashier and more flamboyant, it is important to think about the vehicle’s functionality. Consider what the car will be used for. A 2-door Porsche won’t exactly satisfy the needs of a family as compared to a sedan or perhaps even a van. Moreover, leasing an expensive sports car might not be worth it considering the fact that times are hard and the economy still remains to be bleak.

While personal car leasing deals might offer long-term leases, it is important to only lease the vehicle for as long as one actually needs it. Two years is usually the industry standard for lease periods and if one no longer has the need for the leased vehicle, there would be no point in extending the lease. Perhaps the money saved could even be used to help buy a new car in the future.

Equally important is for users to try and visit as much personal car leasing companies as they possibly can. Different companies will offer different rates and without looking around, it is highly unlikely that the borrower will arrive at the best deal available. One can even use the power of the internet to find car leasing companies, which makes the task a whole lot easier. There are even some websites that offer quotations from multiple companies which means that users will just have to sit back and relax as the computer does all the hard work for them. Within a couple of minutes, one could very well be on his way to leasing the car that he needs.
